New League at Robinson Ranch

Looking for some fun and friendly competition? Here's a chance to join a fun league with your fellow VT&S members. A day might consist of 50 league targets, maybe an optional round of skeet or 5-stand or maybe a shooting game. Also most of the folks cap the shooting off with a light lunch on the way home. Again this is a fun shoot where you only compete against yourself and the Lewis system of pay-offs reward all levels of ability. FYI the 16 yard (trap) targets are standard with the shooter looking at targets that are thrown at unknown angles left and right of center but with the same vertical flight path (disregarding wind). Wobble, on the other hand, adds a second dimension in that the trap machine in addition to horizontal movement also moves vertically up and down at the same time. The result is very challenging targets that really approximate the flight of many game bird.

Robinson Ranch Half & Half League

League will start Wed. January 26, 2011 and run for 10 weeks.

League will start at 9:00 a.m. every Wednesday. Entry fee must be paid by 9:00 a.m.

25 - 16 yd. targets and 25 16 yd. Wobble targets each week.

Non-Registered.   Make up targets for missed weeks. Make ups must be shot on League day.

The best 8 out of 10 scores will count for your total score. Must shoot all 10 weeks for Trophies, Awards and Luncheon or pay for weeks missed. Trophies to Champion, Runner up and 3 Lewis classes. Reverse weekly score in case of ties will determine winner.

Shooter will shoot on the same squad each week.

Entry fee will be $15.00 a week. Entry fee includes Targets, Lewis Purse, Lunch/Awards.  $10.00 Targets, $2.00 Lewis Purse and $3.00 Lunch/Awards.

Lewis Class Purse. One class for each 10 shooters,

Brett Moss, the owner of HiddenValley Hunting Preserve, called President Woodward during our Board meeting, and asked what it would take to get our club out there to shoot. President Woodward told him that $8.00 per round for five-stand was way too high and he suggested that $5.50 per round would be more in line with other clubs. He also told Mr. Moss that if he really wants to get our club out there on a steady basis, he should consider putting in trap fields. President Woodward and other members of the club will be making a trip out to Hidden Valley to meet with Mr. Moss to give him ideas and suggestions on how to make his club profitable.

Sonny Passarella has taken over the duties of Club Librarian.

 50-50 was held.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:39pm.

  Respectively submitted,

 Bill Miller, Secretary

2009 Club Championship Shoot

4/20/2009-Robinson Ranch

After a few postponements the shoot was finally held Monday and for awhile the weather looked a little "iffy" with black clouds continually rolling off the Gulf. In fact it remained "iffy" and the targets were a little difficult with the gusty wind for most, but not all people. An example of the shooter's having little trouble is shown below:

These champions are (from left to right) are Bill McGovern (Skeet B 43X50), Joe Campbell (Handicap B 42X50), Al Hartung (Club All-Around Champion 87X100), Llyod Willms (5 Stand A 37X50), Don Butts (5 Stand B 25X50), Jack Bruan (Trap A 50X50), Dick Tedesco (Handicap A 45X50), Bill Miller (Skeet A 45X50 and Sonny Pazzarella (Trap B 45X50). Good shooting guys and thanks to Frank Woodward and folks helping him with shoot management for running a fun shoot.

The Board Of Directors

April 8, 2009 (Saddlebrook)

For those of you who couldn't make the monthly meeting here are a few items of interest:

  • As noted elsewhere the club championship shoot has been rescheduled to  Monday 4/20

  • Treasurer Bill Miller indicates that he is tired of lugging around VT&SC nameplates that have not been picked up by new members. .If you haven't picked yours up please do so ASAP.

  • Ron Stafford, who has graciously volunteered to ride shotgun on our extensive lending library of shooting related books and DVDs, has indicated that some new titles are in including a couple of DVDs from trap shooter Harlan Campbell.  Ron also indicates that approximately thirty titles are out on loan. While Ron peruses the records he requests that if you have any of these items to return them or otherwise let him know.

  • As usual Frank Woodward provided the club with updates on the progress of some of our members facing various medical problems. Ann Woodward indicated that she and Joyce Groat would like to act as coordinators in sending get well cards, etc. which the membership heartily agreed to. So there you have it these are our Sunshine Gals. Thank you!

April 1, 2009

The VT&SC would like to acknowledge the appreciable help received from Jim Traynor and his son Steve in re-establishing this web site with the not always easy to deal with web hosting organization.
