Minutes of the June 9, 2010 Meeting

The Villages Trap & Skeet Club

The meeting was called to order by President Frank Woodward at 7:04pm. In attendance were 13 members. The Board consisted of President: Frank Woodward, Vice President: Bob Hoetzel, Secretary: Bill Miller, and Treasurer: Victor Wise.

The minutes of the May 12th meeting were read and accepted.

The Treasurer’s report was read and accepted.

There were no guests or new members present.

 Old Business:

The “Open House” for new shooters has been rescheduled for October when the snow birds and renters start to come back. The exact date will be announced at the September meeting.

There was no report from the by-laws committee.

There was an error in the final results of the Skeet League that was sent out via email. President Woodward said to disregard those results and he would put out a corrected results and payouts in a few days.

 New Business:

A “One Day Shoot” at Tampa Bay Sporting Clays is scheduled for Wednesday, July 7th. An email will be sent out announcing this event and if you are interested we’ll ask you to “Reply” stating you can attend. We need a head count so Tampa Bay will have the carts ready for us. A member’s  rate of 32 cents/bird will be charged to “Villages T & S Club members” only.

A “Skat Shoot and Luncheon” is scheduled for Wednesday, August 4th, at Robinson Ranch. There was a discussion about lowering the cost of our luncheons by possibly having sub sandwiches from Publix instead of a hot lunch. The members agreed to the sub sandwiches for the lunch. Emails will be sent out announcing this event and the Board is asking for a “Reply” if you are going to attend.

The members had a productive discussion on the future of our club and ways to improve membership and interest in the meetings. Shooting at different gun clubs, carpooling ideas, guest speakers and showing instructional videos at the meetings were among some of the ideas that were suggested.

A motion was made by Bill Freeland to have the minutes of the meetings sent out to all members via email.

There will be no meetings of our club in July and August. The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 8th, 2010 at Saddlebrook Recreation Center, at 7:00pm.

President Woodward presented Tom Cook with a “twenty five straight” patch for 16yard trap (see photo below from Bob Hoetzel)          .

 50-50 was held.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:49pm.

Respectively submitted,

 Bill Miller, Secretary

2009 Club Championship Shoot

4/20/2009-Robinson Ranch

After a few postponements the shoot was finally held Monday and for awhile the weather looked a little "iffy" with black clouds continually rolling off the Gulf. In fact it remained "iffy" and the targets were a little difficult with the gusty wind for most, but not all people. An example of the shooter's having little trouble is shown below:

These champions are (from left to right) are Bill McGovern (Skeet B 43X50), Joe Campbell (Handicap B 42X50), Al Hartung (Club All-Around Champion 87X100), Llyod Willms (5 Stand A 37X50), Don Butts (5 Stand B 25X50), Jack Bruan (Trap A 50X50), Dick Tedesco (Handicap A 45X50), Bill Miller (Skeet A 45X50 and Sonny Pazzarella (Trap B 45X50). Good shooting guys and thanks to Frank Woodward and folks helping him with shoot management for running a fun shoot.

The Board Of Directors

April 8, 2009 (Saddlebrook)

For those of you who couldn't make the monthly meeting here are a few items of interest:

  • As noted elsewhere the club championship shoot has been rescheduled to  Monday 4/20

  • Treasurer Bill Miller indicates that he is tired of lugging around VT&SC nameplates that have not been picked up by new members. .If you haven't picked yours up please do so ASAP.

  • Ron Stafford, who has graciously volunteered to ride shotgun on our extensive lending library of shooting related books and DVDs, has indicated that some new titles are in including a couple of DVDs from trap shooter Harlan Campbell.  Ron also indicates that approximately thirty titles are out on loan. While Ron peruses the records he requests that if you have any of these items to return them or otherwise let him know.

  • As usual Frank Woodward provided the club with updates on the progress of some of our members facing various medical problems. Ann Woodward indicated that she and Joyce Groat would like to act as coordinators in sending get well cards, etc. which the membership heartily agreed to. So there you have it these are our Sunshine Gals. Thank you!
