New League at Robinson Ranch Looking for some fun and friendly competition? Here's a chance to join a fun league with your fellow VT&S members. A day might consist of 50 league targets, maybe an optional round of skeet or 5-stand or maybe a shooting game. Also most of the folks cap the shooting off with a light lunch on the way home. Again this is a fun shoot where you only compete against yourself and the Lewis system of pay-offs reward all levels of ability. FYI the 16 yard (trap) targets are standard with the shooter looking at targets that are thrown at unknown angles left and right of center but with the same vertical flight path (disregarding wind). Wobble, on the other hand, adds a second dimension in that the trap machine in addition to horizontal movement also moves vertically up and down at the same time. The result is very challenging targets that really approximate the flight of many game bird. Robinson Ranch Half & Half League
League will start Wed. January 26, 2011 and run for 10 weeks. League will start at 9:00 a.m. every Wednesday. Entry fee must be paid by 9:00 a.m. 25 - 16 yd. targets and 25 16 yd. Wobble targets each week. Non-Registered. Make up targets for missed weeks. Make ups must be shot on League day. The best 8 out of 10 scores will count for your total score. Must shoot all 10 weeks for Trophies, Awards and Luncheon or pay for weeks missed. Trophies to Champion, Runner up and 3 Lewis classes. Reverse weekly score in case of ties will determine winner. Shooter will shoot on the same squad each week. Entry fee will be $15.00 a week. Entry fee includes Targets, Lewis Purse, Lunch/Awards. $10.00 Targets, $2.00 Lewis Purse and $3.00 Lunch/Awards. Lewis Class Purse. One class for each 10 shooters, Shoot Dates Jan. 26, 2011 Feb. 2, 9, 16 No Shoot Feb 23. Chain Shoot week Mar. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 Apr. 5, Apr. 12 Shoot for prizes and Award luncheon Need at least 20 shooters to run this league. See Buck Fife, Tom Haynes to sign up for League. A Christmas Gathering
Members of The Villages Trap & Skeet Club met at Hacienda Hills on December 15th for an enjoyable Holiday get-together. Special thanks to Bob Hoetzel for coordinating this (hopefully annual) event.
Minutes of the December 8th, 2010 Meeting The Villages Trap & Skeet Club The meeting was called to order by Pesident Frank Woodward at 7:04pm. In attendance were 20 members. The Board consisted of President: Frank Woodward, Vice President: Bob Hoetzel, Secretary: Bill Miller, and Treasurer: Victor Wise. Absent from the Board was Match Officer: Ron Groat. The minutes of the November 10th 2010 meeting were read and accepted. The Treasurer’s report was read and accepted. The club welcomed two (2) new members: Bill Quinn and Michael Simoniello. No guests were present.
Old Business: The Open House for new shooters will be Monday, January 17th, at Robinson Ranch. President Woodward asked for volunteers to monitor these new shooters. The one day sporting clays shoot, held at Tampa Bay Sporting Clays on November 19th, was attended by 12 shooters. The shoot was followed by lunch and a good time was had by all. Our Christmas Dinner will be held at Hacienda Hills on Wednesday, Dec. 15th, at 6:00pm. We have 34 signed up and Bob Hoetzel needs to know ASAP if you plan on going. Bill Miller has assumed the responsibility as head of the By-Laws Committee. He’ll be gathering a group to review and update the By-Laws so that the members can vote on them in 2011. The nominating committee Chairman, Jack Bruhn, along with Bill Freeland, and Ron Groat gave the nominations for elections in January. The nominations are: President - Frank Woodward, Secretary - Jack Bruhn, and Match Officer – Jim Atherholt.
New Business: Bob Hoetzel presented Jim Atherholt with an award and life-time membership plaque in recognition of his generosity to our club. Congratulations Jim!!! To date, Jim has given close to $800 to the club. A one day trip to Gator Gun Club, to shoot Bunker Trap followed by a luncheon, is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 8th. Emails will be sent out. Anyone interested in going can reply to the email or call Frank Woodward. Phone calls will be made to people who don’t get emails. Brett Moss, the owner of HiddenValley Hunting Preserve, called President Woodward during our Board meeting, and asked what it would take to get our club out there to shoot. President Woodward told him that $8.00 per round for five-stand was way too high and he suggested that $5.50 per round would be more in line with other clubs. He also told Mr. Moss that if he really wants to get our club out there on a steady basis, he should consider putting in trap fields. President Woodward and other members of the club will be making a trip out to Hidden Valley to meet with Mr. Moss to give him ideas and suggestions on how to make his club profitable. Sonny Passarella has taken over the duties of Club Librarian. 50-50 was held. The meeting was adjourned at 7:39pm. Respectively submitted, Bill Miller, Secretary

Old Business: The “Open House” for new shooters has been rescheduled for October when the snow birds and renters start to come back. The exact date will be announced at the September meeting. President Woodward said to disregard those results and he would put out a corrected results and payouts in a few days. New Business: A “One Day Shoot” at Tampa Bay Sporting Clays is scheduled for Wednesday, July 7th. An email will be sent out announcing this event and if you are interested we’ll ask you to “Reply” stating you can attend. We need a head count so Tampa Bay will have the carts ready for us. A member’s rate of 32 cents/bird will be charged to “Villages T & S Club members” only. A “Skat Shoot and Luncheon” is scheduled for Wednesday, August 4th, at Robinson Ranch. Emails will be sent out announcing this event and the Board is asking for a “Reply” if you are going to attend. The members had a productive discussion on the future of our club and ways to improve membership and interest in the meetings. Shooting at different gun clubs, carpooling ideas, guest speakers and showing instructional videos at the meetings were among some of the ideas that were suggested. A motion was made by Bill Freeland to have the minutes of the meetings sent out to all members via email. There will be no meetings of our club in July and August. The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 8th, 2010 at Saddlebrook Recreation Center, at 7:00pm.
